Academy life

Safeguarding and wellbeing

“We are committed to safeguarding all children at Trinity Academy. All members of staff receive Level 2 safeguarding training and are familiar with the key legislation that all schools must follow. In addition to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and the Deputy DSL, all the Heads of Year and pastoral leaders are Level 3 trained as safeguarding officers. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to keeping children safe and the wellbeing and personal development of all pupils is their priority.

We are proud to be the only school in Lambeth to have a dedicated wellbeing team on site. All pupils have access to this service, which includes drop ins and bespoke therapies. The Wellbeing Team also supports form tutors in creating tutor-time resources to promote the social and emotional health of our pupils. Our supportive pastoral structures reassure parents and pupils and lets them know that we are explicitly invested in their personal development.

All pupils are attached to a form group and the form tutor becomes the main point of contact for the family. Our pupils spend 30-minutes every day with their Form Tutors and they engage in a range of activities.

During the first term, we focus on the transition process, which includes forming good friendships and coping with change.

In addition to a form tutor, we also have Heads of Year who have oversight of all aspects of your child’s education: pastoral, academic, co-curricular, ranging from attendance and punctuality to attainment and progress.

You will receive regular communication from your child’s Tutor and Head of Year.

Like most schools in London, we work in partnership with the London Metropolitan Police and have a dedicated Safer Schools Officer attached to the Academy.”

Inclusion (SEND)

At our academy, we believe in creating inclusive environments that aim to meet the needs of all students.

We want to ensure that our Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) provision offers appropriate support for those facing barriers to their learning.

We provide support within all four broad areas of SEND:

  • cognition and learning
  • communication and interaction
  • sensory and physical
  • social, emotional and mental health

Our school SENDCO leads on the provision for students with SEND, and Gary Aubin oversees provision for students with SEND across Future Academies, to ensure that it is of the highest standards.
