Trinity Academy

Sixth form

Teaching at A-level builds on the experience students have received in the lower school, and the subjects offered facilitate progression onto the very best universities. The subjects offered in the sixth form are:

  • Art and Design
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Economics
  • English Literature
  • French
  • Geography
  • History
  • Mathematics and Further Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Politics
  • Psychology
  • Religious Studies
  • Spanish

 Pastoral care

As part of the Trinity experience, students have access to a dedicated study space and a common room. The Sixth Form Tutor closely monitors all aspects of each student’s academic, pastoral and co-educational progress and achievement.

Our careers programme and support with the university application process includes 1:1 guidance. It is our expectation that students in the sixth form take part in enrichment activities such as attending specialist lectures, attending cultural events and trips to museums, galleries and theatres, as well as taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Silver or Gold award, and participating in relevant bespoke work experience, which we assist in finding.

When a student joins Trinity Academy’s sixth form, they will be talking about their futures, careers and, ambitions from the outset. We want to make sure that each one of our students is able to achieve the ambitions they have.

Just as with the lower school, sixth form students will be assessed regularly on their programmes. If students are not making the expected progress, they will be supported by relevant intervention. We will keep in touch with parents/guardians, supporting you and your child on their journey from childhood to adulthood.

Careers education

Along with our knowledge-rich curriculum, Careers in Education is one of the key pillars of Future Academies. We believe that a strong Careers programme is an essential part of raising the aspirations of our pupils and giving them both the knowledge and the skills to achieve excellence, regardless of their background or individual circumstances.

Our Enrichment scheme encompasses the following four areas:

  • Connect pupils to the world of work, future education, training and employment

  • Enrich the curriculum

  • Provide exposure to culture, the arts and sport

  • Build character, integrity, resilience and judgement

16 to 19 tuition fund

Trinity Academy will use the 16 to 19 tuition funding in the 2021-22 academic year to provide additional tutoring for A-level maths and individual sciences to small groups of five to six students. These students are from disadvantaged backgrounds and have missed classroom-based face-face teaching during the pandemic.
