Welcome

Sixth Form is a time of challenge, ambition and opportunity. At Trinity Academy we are proud to offer an academically rigorous and supportive environment where students develop the knowledge, confidence and independence needed for success at university, apprenticeships and future careers.

Our Sixth Form community is built upon five key pillars:

  • Academics – expert subject teaching and rigorous academic expectations
  • Enrichment – opportunities beyond the classroom to broaden experiences
  • Careers – tailored support for university, apprenticeships and employment
  • Leadership – developing confident, responsible role models
  • Culture – a vibrant and ambitious student community

Students benefit from specialist teaching, strong pastoral care and a culture that celebrates intellectual curiosity. We ensure every student leaves Trinity Academy Sixth Form having achieved their academic goals, developed their interests beyond the classroom and prepared themselves for the next stage of life. Ultimately, Trinity Academy Sixth Form is a vibrant, diverse and ambitious community where students are supported to thrive academically and personally.

A message from our Head of Sixth Form

It is with great pride that I welcome you to Trinity Academy Sixth Form.

Whether you are a prospective student or a parent/ guardian, thank you for considering our Sixth Form community. The move from Year 11 into Sixth Form represents an exciting and important step. Academic work becomes more challenging, but also far more rewarding, and students begin making important decisions about their futures.

At Trinity Academy we see Sixth Form not simply as two years of study, but as a journey from Year 11 through to higher education, careers and adult life. Our academic and pastoral teams have a wealth of experience and are committed to supporting every student throughout this journey.

We place significant emphasis on university and careers guidance, with dedicated programmes designed to support students in making ambitious and informed decisions about their next steps. The majority of our students progress to prestigious universities including Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group institutions, while others pursue successful apprenticeships and alternative career pathways.

Equally important is the wellbeing of our students. Our experienced Sixth Form leadership and Place2Be teams provide regular guidance and personalised support so that every student feels confident and prepared for Sixth Form life. Our aim is simple: that students leave Trinity Academy after having achieved their academic ambitions, developed their leadership skills and spent two healthy, happy and successful years as part of our community.

Ms Catherine Roberts, Head of Sixth Form

Pastoral Care

As part of the Trinity experience, students have access to a dedicated study space and a common room. The Sixth Form Tutor closely monitors all aspects of each student’s academic, pastoral and co-educational progress and achievement.

Our careers programme and support with the university application process includes 1:1 guidance. It is our expectation that students in the sixth form take part in enrichment activities such as attending specialist lectures, attending cultural events and trips to museums, galleries and theatres, as well as taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Silver or Gold award, and participating in relevant bespoke work experience, which we assist in finding.

When a student joins Trinity Academy’s sixth form, they will be talking about their futures, careers and, ambitions from the outset. We want to make sure that each one of our students is able to achieve the ambitions they have. Just as with the lower school, sixth form students will be assessed regularly on their programmes. If students are not making the expected progress, they will be supported by relevant intervention. We will keep in touch with parents/guardians, supporting you and your child on their journey from childhood to adulthood.

Careers Education

Along with our knowledge-rich curriculum, Careers in Education is one of the key pillars of Future Academies. We believe that a strong Careers programme is an essential part of raising the aspirations of our pupils and giving them both the knowledge and the skills to achieve excellence, regardless of their background or individual circumstances.

Our Enrichment scheme encompasses the following four areas:

  • Connect pupils to the world of work, future education, training and employment
  • Enrich the curriculum
  • Provide exposure to culture, the arts and sport
  • Build character, integrity, resilience and judgement
